Law and the UK
- Distinguishing right from wrong
- Legal systems in the UK
- Human Rights and international law
- Appreciation for the rule of law
Democracy, UK Government and UK Institutions
- Democracy: Participation, Elections, Electoral Systems,
- UK government: Role of Parliament, Citizens, Political Parties, Separation of powers
- Role of Citizens within UK Government and how they can influence decisions
- Government: Local, National, Devolved powers, European and Worldwide
- Knowledge of UK institutions and their role in our lives
- Other forms of Government seen around the World
Community, Faith, Cultures and Respect
- Taking responsibility for your actions and building self-esteem and self-confidence
- Contributing positively to the lives of others and communities we live in including volunteering and responsible activity
- Understanding of the laws on freedom of beliefs and how to show respect and tolerance towards others.
- The diverse, national, regional, religious, and ethnic identities in the UK and how we must show mutual respect and understanding.
- Understanding individuality and how to identify and combat discrimination
- Gaining knowledge and respect for their own culture and the cultures of others
Economic
- Personal finance: Income and expenditure, money management, debt, insurance, savings and pensions
- Different financial institutions, products and services
- How Public money is raised and spent
Community Education scheme of work
